SZENENWECHSEL
New trends in education for the performative arts

The increasing internationalisation of university courses for theatre and the contemporary arts, and the cultural diversity that this brings with it, is also resulting in new aesthetic, often politically engaged forms of expression in Germany. How have study programmes reacted to this development? What role do feminist, queer and migrant issues play in the curricula?
Martine Dennewald and Philipp Schulte will discuss this topic with Marja Christians (freelance artist), Sabine Harbeke (BA Directing, zhdk Zürich), Sodja Lotker (MA Directing for Devised and Puppet Theatre, DAMU Prague) and Annemarie Matzke (Institut for Media, Theatre and Popular Culture, University of Hildesheim).

600 HIGHWAYMEN and Sacha Yanow in discussion

Performance artist Sacha Yanow and the directing duo 600 HIGHWAYMEN live and work in New York, in a very diverse independent theatre scene that is branching off in more and more directions, and to which the labels ‘off-Broadway’ and ‘off-off-Broadway’ barely apply anymore. How are their shows created and who acts in them? What kind of spaces can be used? What kind of audience comes to the shows? And how do the artists view current political events?
Martine Dennewald and Ruth Mayer (Professor for American Studies at the Leibniz University Hannover) will discuss these questions with Abigail Browde and Michael Silverstone (600 HIGHWAYMEN) and Sacha Yanow.
