The Fever

600 HIGHWAYMEN . New York City . USA

An 80-person play with me right in the middle

The Fever begins with the story of a party that seems so familiar to us, it’s as if we have been there before. And it doesn’t take long until we, the audience, actually start to mingle among the guests, spurred on by instructions from Abigail Browde and Michael Silverstone, which are cleverly woven into the narrative. We get to know each other, even if at first we’re a little shy – we’re just trying it out. We leave the party again. We help an old man to his feet; who knows why he’s lying on the ground.

After The Record and Employee of the Year, Theaterformen will for the third time present a play by 600 HIGHWAYMEN, masters of bringing people together in a respectful way on the stage. The Fever investigates how we find a common ground, or maybe don’t. It’s an experiment about the responsibility of the individual and the group, an exercise in commitment and also a bit of a test: who are you when everyone’s watching you?
