Race Cards

A resistance experience-archive about racism

220. My mum does not talk about race anymore. It makes her uncomfortable, tired. Will this happen to me?
440. Are you angry?
660. Who is more problematic – famous racist Nigel Farage, or the liberal journalists politely asking him questions?
996. What will freedom look like?

Race Cards is an invitation to enter a continually growing archive – and to expand it. The 1000 questions hanging in the foyer of the Staatstheater are dedicated to the everyday challenges of facing racially motivated violence and discrimination. By formulating an answer to one of the questions, the visitors enter into a dialogue with the artist and leave their mark on the installation too.
