LASTESIS

ACCIÓN/NEBULOSA is a performative research piece that links installation, theatre, dance and performance with activism. Starting from the question of which fascist structures permeate our identities, the project is a reaction to the growing right-wing extremism in Chile and all over the world, and investigates which antifascist futures are conceivable. The piece focuses especially on the experiences of women and people from the LGBTQIA+ community, who are once again becoming the target of neo-fascist violence. The collective LASTESIS sees performance as a political space, in which they investigate not only external threats, but also internalised power structures. The collective sketches a speculative scenario that contrasts apocalyptic visions of the future with other visions of life, solidarity and resistance.

 

LASTESIS is a feminist, interdisciplinary performance collective from Valparaíso, consisting of Daffne Valdés Vargas and Sibila Sotomayor Van Rysseghem. Their work seeks to translate feminist writings into performative resistance. With their 2019 performance Un violador en tu camino (A Rapist on Your Path), the collective started an entire movement that spread far beyond the borders of Chile. Thousands of women and queer people all over the world organised and performed the choreography calling for resistance against sexual violence on the streets of their cities. LASTESIS have already been guests at Festival Theaterformen in 2023 with Resistencia.
