THE BONES
Manuela Infante
Santiago de Chile
South American forensic anthropologist R.L. is an expert in bone trauma and works all over the world identifying victims of enforced disappearances. Now she wants to know what will happen if this data is turned into music instead. THE BONES by Manuela Infante asks whether music can be a place where the dead can speak to us. A piece about the necessity of continuing a dialogue between the living and the dead – especially in the context of state policies that aim to produce ghosts on a massive scale.
Manuela Infante Güell, born in Chile, is a director, playwright, script writer and musician. Her approach is characterised by her ability to express contemporary theoretical questions through performance and to create works that lie somewhere between theatre, music and philosophy. Manuela Infante’s plays have been translated into English, German, Italian and Portuguese. Her works have been performed at many theatres and festivals in North America, South America, Europe and Asia. She has been a guest at Festival Theaterformen many times, most recently in 2023 with Was ihr nicht sehen könnt – Eine Vampirgeschichte.
