Teenage Songbook of Love and Sex

Ásrún Magnúsdóttir & Alexander Roberts

Reykjavík

Butterflies in the tummy, the first sexual experience, (self-doubt), fear, heartache – how else can we talk about this tempest of emotions other than through music? Twenty teenagers from Braunschweig and Reykjavík take to the microphone and in Teenage Songbook of Love and Sex catapult us right into their untamed minds and thumping hearts. They sing catchy pop songs with lyrics they have written themselves about the big themes of growing up, which they worked on together in Braunschweig. Because the songs we listen to in our youth and the stories they tell determine how we come to understand ourselves and the world around us. But what if all heteronormative pop songs told alternative stories? The young people sing for themselves, for each other and for “every virgin, every slut and every thirsty bitch” – so no one ever needs to feel alone again. A show filled with emotions, which we guarantee will leave no eye dry or heart cold.
