Niels Frevert, who never practices but takes at least as long to write a text as a squirrel to orbit the earth, has surpassed himself. Frevert hardly ever sings about interior views and introspectives anymore, his gaze is directed out into the world and the lives of the people. While the ever-increasing pack of mawkish German singers caters to the emotional expectations of the nation in public spaces and with simple lyrical methods, the guy from Hamburg is already much further. His clear language opens worlds, his music is an embrace. Acoustic guitar and piano create the heart of each song, the foundation is bass and drums, elegantly refined with strings, vibraphone, brass, accordion and choruses. That's what it sounds like when skill, self-confidence and calmness come together. Everything is music, warmth and poetry without attitudes here.
